Animal Farm

George Orwell’s classic novel in which a group of farmyard animals revolt against their human master is touring the UK from 22 Jan – 28 May 2022. This brand new production is directed and adapted by Robert Icke, with set and costume design by Bunny Christie and puppetry created by Toby.
The project marks Toby’s third time collaborating with the Children’s Theatre Partnership after Goodnight Mister Tom (2011) and Running Wild (2017). Full tour dates and ticket booking can be found HERE

Spirited Away

Toby is creating puppetry for the stage premiere of Studio Ghibli’s animated film Spirited Away which opens at Tokyo’s Imperial Theatre in March 2022 before touring throughout Japan.
Adapted and directed by John Caird, the production will be Toby’s second time collaborating with set designer Jon Bausor (The Grinning Man) and is his first time working with Japan’s Toho Co.
This epic adventure will be using all manner of theatrical means to bring the characters and creatures from Hayao Miyazaki’s imagination to life.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Inspired by Sally Cookson’s original production, this reimagined staging of C. S. Lewis’s classic novel combines an entirely new creative team and production design to bring the magical land of Narnia to theatres across the UK, catch it on tour from November 2021 – April 2022.

Toby is puppetry director for this new production, collaborating with puppet designer/maker Max Humphries to bring the cast of extraordinary creatures, including the mighty lion Aslan, to life. For tour dates and ticket booking, visit the show’s website HERE

The Boy and the Beast

Toby is creating puppetry for the stage adaptation of Studio Chizu’s animated film The Boy and the Beast, which premieres at the JR East Theatre, Tokyo on 30 April 2022.
The story follows Kyuta, an orphan who stumbles into a fantastical world of beasts, where he’s taken in by Kumatetsu, a warrior beast who’s been searching for the perfect apprentice. But when a darkness threatens the human and beast worlds, the bond between this unlikely pair will be put to the ultimate test.
With script and lyrics by Chikae Takahashi and direction by Gō Aoki, Toby is the only British member of the creative team, and the production marks his third collaboration with Shiki Theatre Company (following Disney’s The Little Mermaid and A Robot in the Garden).
