Tin Drum
March 2005

Adapted from the Gunter Grass novel, the production followed Oskar Matzerath and his decision to stop growing at three years old to avoid the corruptions of adult society and the invading Nazi regime in 1930s Germany.

Toby was head of the puppet department on this public production at the Central School of Speech and Drama at the Embassy Theatre. He was responsible for devising, designing and constructing puppetry that would inform and expand the text, whilst reflecting the heightened fantasy in Oskar's recounting of his past.
